Appealing And Some Satire.

Music : Brian McKnight - Everything [[Good Song]]

Small Talk

Alright you guys all finished posting so its my turn. Oh yeah and whoever went to PROM, it was kickass until Wilson asked me if I did my English homework. That was not good. But in conclusion, PROM was freaking AMAZING & I hope everyone who went had fun. & Mr. Lyon, you should have went. Haha. & how come I always feel as if my entries does not answer the questions? :/

QUESTONS: Why do you think the author put some appealing characteristics into his hypothetical world?
In what ways does Brave New World match (or stray from) the satire model we discussed in class?
(All members comment on the same questions)

I believe the author put some appealing characteristics into his hypothetical world because he is definely trying to prove a point. I feel he is trying to say, "hey, you want peace? Then you have to do this for me." kind of thing. Also, I agree with Wilson saying how Huxley is trying to make us see how life CAN be wonderful, how it CAN be "happy" Huxley also created a world that everyone somewhat wants, an ideal society, where SEX is good and you can "do it" with everyone you want & how there are no disease, you're just happy 24/7 but as you read on in the book, Huxley does point out that even the ideal world has a price. Like with soma (MY FAVORITE SUBJECT EVER!!), to get your happiness, you must take this drug. (WTF is that (sorry for the slang/AIM language Mr. Lyon)).

Santire, kay, One I really liked how Mr. Bernard Marx is named after Karl Marx, a communist. Maybe its just me but Bernard is this guy who is trying to break out of the society and he feels isloated and different and believes there is more than just soma and free sex and "ford" and then where he has this last name that reflects on a man like Karl Marx. I'm not trying to say Karl Marx is a bad guy but I'm just saying, Bernard and Karl seems to me TOTAL opposites and maybe Huxley was trying to "make fun" of this. Two, sex, this one is not that big of a deal because today in our society it seems to be okay to have sex with different individuals but when Huxley wrote this book, I believe it was a little bit more scandalous. I feel that Huxley is suggesting sex is nothing, in his book, You can have anyone you want and do anything you want with that person and still not have a baby. Just to point out one more, the best, SOMA. Huxley I feel put this drug called soma in the book because DAMN its a drug, supposely its bad for you, but the author makes it sound as if soma is what we need in our society, YAY for soma, it makes you happy. Soma=Happiness ; Soma = Drug, so DRUG=Happiness? I don't know! Okay, I think that's enough.

A side note on the SEX, I personally feel that it does relate to how our world is today, like you don't have to be married to have sex but it makes me like mad that in this book, the ladies are allowed to have sex with whoever they want and not be judged by it but in reality, if you sleep around, you're considered a hoe/slut/bytch or whatever. That is just something I want to point out that made me a little upset. I'm not saying this for myself and that I want to sleep around but I feel that women should have equal playing grounds as men. That is all. :]

hey.. prom was fun even AFTER i asked you. i'm sure if mr lyon was there he'd ask the same question.
if u agree with me, you'd should've left a comment for me to reply! =O

i agree with what you thik the author's point was. sacrfices must must be made. and yeah, bernard and karl were the black sheeps in their societies who probably felt isolated themselves. and i think the author added the idea of having sex and stuff relates to relationships. maybe.

It think you are right about Huxley define what may be needed to acheive his hypothetical world. If world peace and a perfect society were so easy to acheive, it would have happened already. Instead, we live in a world where conflicts still exists.
